Gas prices are on the rise again, and here at Goodwin Bros Auto, we know that nobody likes maxing out their credit card on fuel. Luckily, there are several fuel-saving techniques that you can employ while driving in order to consume less fuel and therefore spend less at the pump. Here are a few of our favorite ways to save at the pump.

Drive a Fuel-Efficient Vehicle

One of the most obvious methods of saving on gas costs is to purchase a fuel-efficient vehicle. Here at our dealership, we sell a variety of cars that fit this description. For instance, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica comes in a hybrid version that combines a gas engine and an electric motor to get 84 miles per gallon combined.

Make Fewer Trips

When you drive a car that has been parked for a few hours, the engine is cold and uses much more fuel for the first few miles. From this fact, it’s best to combine all of your daily errands into one trip instead of spacing them out through the course of the day, which forces you to start your engine from cold multiple times.

Remove Unnecessary Weight

The more weight your car is carrying around, the more fuel it has to use. Unless you really need to carry them around, remove heavy objects from the truck such as golf clubs.

Stick to the Speed Limit

While it may be tempting to drive fast so that you get to your destination quicker, this actually uses more fuel. There’s a sweet spot, typically around 50 miles per hour, where your vehicle will get its best fuel economy. At speeds higher than that, efficiency decreases steadily.
